Today at Louis-Joseph-Papineau High School in Montréal, Sport Étudiant sponsored a soccer tournament for students of third cycle. Students from Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague School were present.

When I left, SLG won two out of three matches. There was a fourth one to be played around 5 p.m.

Aujourd'hui à l'école secondaire Louis-Joseph-Papineau, Sport Étudiant a parrainé un tournoi de foot (soccer) pour les élèves de troisième cycle. Des élèves de l'école Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague y ont été présents.

Quant je suis parti, SLG a gagné deux matchs sur trois. Il y en a eu un quatrième à jouer vers 17 h.

Students have begun the story "Adventures in Times". They are learning the time traveling endeavors of Paul and Diane exploring Canada.

The goal of this activity is for students to learn to decode English, in particular on how to pronounce the -ed ending of verbs.

Today in class, I told the students the story of "The Three Little Pigs," my version! We had the three grandchildren pigs: Jasmine, Nathan and Sophie. There was also the grandmother Joanie and the big bad kangaroo Anaïs. It all ended with Noémie waking up after her nightmare!

The students were learning strategies in comprehension in addition to having a good time!

Aujourd'hui, j'ai raconté l'histoire des "Trois petits cochons" aux élèves, ma version! Nous avons eu trois cochons-petits-enfants: Jasmine, Nathan et Sophie. Today, I talk about the books “Les Chevaliers dÉmeraude,” in particular on the content of these books, on the emotions that the books create and on the number of the books of“Les Chevaliers d”Émeraude”. If you don’t like these books, it’s because you are crazy! ”Les Chevaliers d’Émeraude” are better than the other books! The story is very entertaining, interesting, funny, dramatic and much more! This story tells about an emperor who is an insect and who decides to invade the continent Enkidiev, so the knights of this continent fight the emperor’s army, but, it’s not just that! They are really good books! Read them! The emotions in these books are: sadness, excitement and a lot of happiness! In these books there is sadness, because, often the people die, because it’s war. There is excitement when the insects come on Enkidiev. You can imagine the emperor’s army and it’s very cool! Too, when the knights fight the insects, it’s very entertaining! There is happiness, because you don’t see just the war, no, you see too the lives of the knights and, sometimes, it’s really funny, like when they get married, when they eat and say jokes! There are twelve books on “Les Chevaliers d’Émeraude”. * Harry Potter 7, Good or Bad?
Harry Potter 7 in French was released on the 26th of October at midnight. I went to Renaud Bray to buy the book. It was a party at the book store. A magician came to do magic tricks. He was very good. When midnight approached, everybody came to the center of Renaud Bray. We counted five...four... three...two...one... woooohoooouuuuu. Every one screamed and urged the person next to him to take Harry Potter. In the seventh, we promped everything. This tome is better then the other. Harry Potter 7th is very good.

How to Cook a Grilled-cheese (another way!)
First, you take a big pan and you put oil in it. After, you take 2 slices of bread and 1 slice of cheese. Put the slice of cheese between the two slices of bread. After, you put the sandwich in the pan. You turn over the grilled-cheese in the pan. When it’s okay, you put in a plate and served. Eat it with soup. It's better.

Hi, my name is Virgile, I'm going to tell you what I have improved in intensive English. In August 28th, I wasn't good in English. I didn't understand tv in English and I found the language very hard! My English course was the worst course in my old school! I didn't like English before! But, I went to intensive English, everything changed... In December, I arrive in my new class and start to love English! Now I can understand tv in English, read in English, understand people who talk in English, talk in English,ect.. It's simple to understand, I can do everything in English!!! Today, the students had to read an English book or magazine and do a mini report on it. We usually do "reading time" twice a week in class.
N.B. Don't forget the recommendation for students to read at least 15 minutes per day at home.

Students are working on their 3-D bedrooms. When they are finished with the scale-models, they are going to prepare a "sales pitch" in English to try to sell their bedrooms.

This afternoon, the students of intensive English watched the picture Happy Feet in class. In December, there will be a field trip to see an English movie at a theater downtown.

Cet après-midi, les élèves en enseignement intensif de l'anglais ont visionné le film Happy Feet, ou Les petits pieds de bonheur, en classe. En décembre, il y aura une sortie pour voir un film en anglais dans un cinéma au centre-ville.

Cross-country News - Nouvelles du crosscountry

On Thursday, October 10th, four classes of the annex went to participate at the cross-country event at Jean-Drapeau Park. The Intensive class did well with Daryline coming in first place among the grade sixers (green, girls) and Louis in fourth place (green, boys). All the students are to be proud of their performances. Thanks to Mario, the phys.ed. teacher, for the excellent coaching.

Le jeudi 10 octobre, quatre classes de l'Annexe sont allées participer à l'évènement du crosscountry au parc Jean-Drapeau. La classe intensive y a bien fait grâce à la première position de Daryline chez les sixièmes années (vert, filles) et à la quatrième position de Louis (vert, garçons). Tous les élèves devraient être fiers de leur performance. Merci à Mario, prof d'éduc., pour l'excellent entrainement.

Today was Election Day at the annex. The winner for the Intensive class, group 62, is Guillaume. Congratulations to Guillaume and to all the participants. The first pic attached shows Guillaume with the other winners of the school. Guillaume is the one on the top left! The second pic shows the helpers during the voting process, students of the Intensive class.

Aujourd'hui, c'était la journée des élections à l'Annexe. Le gagnant pour la classe intensive, groupe 62, est Guillaume. Félicitations à Guillaume et à tous les participants. Students were exposed to family vocabulary in class today. They are now working on a "family tree" project. The goal is for the students to identify family members in English. Nota bene: The students received a handout where they can study the family vocabulary at home!

Aujourd'hui en classe, les élèves ont été exposés à du vocabulaire concernant la famille. Actuellement, ils travaillent sur un projet d' "arbre généologique". Le but est de permettre aux élèves d'identifier des membres de famille en anglais. Students were taught some popular English expressions, for example, "When pigs fly." Afterwards, the students had to choose an expression to make a poster. The goal is to help students realize that English has its own way of thinking since most of these sayings are different in French. N.B.The last poster should read "It's raining cats and dogs."

On a montré aux élèves quelques expressions populaires en anglais, par exemple, "When pigs fly" ("Quand les poules auront des dents"). Par la suite, les élèves devaient choisir une expression afin de créer une affiche. Le but est de sensibiliser les élèves que l'anglais possède son propre génie puisque la plupart de ces adages sont différents en français. N.B. Today in class, after the morning recess, I told the students the story about "The Hand and Huguette Lachance." This legend occurs on a farm in Stukely-Sud that is now an ESL summer camp! The kids were developing their comprehension skills and were having fun!
